This Thursday sees a new exhibition by artist Maurien Venables opening at the New Space Gallery. Free Space’s little baby New Space Gallery is taking wing and flying the nest growing up and becoming something in its own right. Up a ladder today changing over the exhibition I am sad to see Pascal Ancel Bartholdi’s atmospheric and theatrical work leaving. However, with such a different style of art now going up on the wall my grief is abated. Maurien Venables shows her new work for the first time. Her work is produced through hours and hours of manipulation on her computer. She revels in pattern and colour, the more I look at her work the more unexpected images I find.
This Thursday 10th November between 5-8pm there will be a chance to meet her alongside her canvases and find out more about her inspiration and work processes. And of course I shall do my best to get some colourful and vibrant cakes baked to match the occasion.
